On November 13 and 22, 2024, the online seminar with the generic Inclusive and Intercultural Engagement of HEIs to Nurture Campus Diversity and to Support Internationalisation at Home was held, organised by the National Erasmus+ Office in Moldova, with the support of the Delegation of the European Union to Moldova and the Ministry of Education and Research of the Republic of Moldova. This event is part of the activities of the Higher Education Reform Experts (HEREs) in Moldova, which operate within the framework of the Erasmus+ Programme, with the support of the international SPHERE consortium. It includes experts from the European University Association (EUA), representing over 800 universities in the European Higher Education Area (EHEA), as well as 33 national rectors' councils.
The event aimed to promote cultural diversity and inclusion in Moldovan universities and was coordinated by the inclusion and diversity expert, Danny Soekarnsingh, from the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
During the seminar, the expert Danny Soekarnsingh gave presentations on the concept of internationalisation and the current landscape of inclusive education in European universities, and participants were involved in interactive workshops focused on evaluating internationalisation and inclusion policies within our institutions. Also, in a session dedicated to cultural diversification on university campuses, the expert presented practical approaches to promoting inclusion and managing diversity, emphasizing the importance of the difference between equality and equity in education.
Over 30 university staff, representatives of international relations departments from 12 universities in the country participated at the seminar, in the exchange of ideas and good practices, thus supporting internationalisation initiatives at the institutional level.
