Erasmus+ at University – results of the annual information campaign in Moldova

The National Erasmus+ Office has organised between September 19 and November 29, 2018, a series of information events dedicated to the students and university professors from the Republic of Moldova.

The events are part of the annual information campaign on the opportunities of the Erasmus+ Programme, by which the European Union supports education, training, youth, and sport. Meetings with students took place under the topic „I am Erasmus+, as well” and were launched this year at the State University of Medicine and Pharmacy „Nicolae Testemițanu” from Chișinău, being succeeded by info sessions dedicated to regional Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in Bălți, Comrat, and Cahul.

Students have been offered important information on the opportunities available within the Erasmus+: International Credit Mobility which makes possible for students enrolled in a Moldovan Higher Education Institution to have academic mobilities and traineeships abroad, in an Erasmus+ Programme country, and Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree scholarships – a possibility get enrolled in a master programme and study in at least two different Erasmus+ countries.  Likewise, Erasmus students have shared their mobility experiences. They exposed the impact of the study mobility abroad on their personality, visions, and knowledge taken in an EU university.

The information sessions for university professors have been launched, this year with an international seminar dedicated to Erasmus+ partnerships’ promotion, with the participation of the diplomatic missions of the Erasmus+ Programme Countries (EU Delegation to the Republic of Moldova, French, German, Italian, British, Polish, Romanian, Swedish and Turkish Embassies), National Erasmus+ Agencies and Offices representatives(Serbia and Kyrgyzstan), representatives of the EU HEIs (France, Romania, Sweden), representatives of the national authorities (Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, Ministry of Education, Culture, and Research) and of the Erasmus+ projects coordinators from Moldova. In the framework of the information & networking session was held the Erasmus+ Capacity Building in Higher Education and Jean Monnet projects Fair, the Republic of Moldova being selected for a number of 22 of these type of projects between 2015 and 2018. These projects engage the modernisation of the education system, teaching and learning methods, study programmes, and integration of the Republic of Moldova into the European Higher Education Area.

The event was followed by information days for the university professors from Cahul, Comrat, and Bălți. At the meetings were discussed the results of the Moldovan HEIs in the Erasmus+, as well the participation in the new projects in the context of the launched call for proposals and of the additional budget foreseen for Moldova for the academic mobility projects KA 107.  

More than 500 students and around 500 of university professors, interested in the Erasmus+ projects in Higher Education have been informed during the 2018 National Campaign.
