This year Europe Day comes to our homes. It is more important than ever to be solidary for community, health and education.
Erasmus+, the European Union Program for education, training, youth and sport, offers opportunities for people of all ages, helping them to share knowledge and experience within institutions from different countries. The higher education institutions from Moldova are implementing Erasmus+ Program (Tempus, Erasmus Mundus etc.) for more than 25 years in European and regional universities’ consortiums.
Within Erasmus+ the Moldovan universities have organized between 2014-2020 more than 2500 academic mobilities for students and academic staff, have implemented more than 400 cooperation projects, 17 capacity building projects in HEIs and 17 Jean Monnet projects. They have contributed to the developing of the HE system in Moldova, but have also changed destinies, especially for students who recognize that after the mobilities they came home more confident, competent, open, tolerant and with lots of new knowledge and experience; but also for the academic staff that has benefited from numerous trainings and study visits to European countries, and brought good practices and experience for modernizing their home universities.
Nowadays the whole educational system from Moldova, but also from Europe and neighboring countries went online – an assumed challenge which we all try to face with minimum loss, partly due to the collaborative experience in Tempus and Erasmus+ projects, which have had the objective to develop a remote or online education system in Moldova (CRUNT, TEACHME, MINERVA etc).
Europe Day is an occasion to remember once again that we are one, we have the same values and objectives, we wish for a healthier, more open and more united world. Happy Europe Day!
